poo poodles: A giddy joyful mess.

The poo poodles formed in Chicago in mid-1996, after hearing Mike Watt berate an unappreciative audience member with the suggestion that he "start their own band," -the poo poodles did just that and began laying down the beats. The band, BP (vocals) and P (guitar, drums, harmonica, robot beats, percussion, sfx, vocals), quickly established a spontaneous and often inept sound, "being in tune isn't what we are about," P states, "in the time it takes to tune a guitar we can write and record two new songs." So, on a banged up one-track cassette recorder, the poo poodles unique brand of self-dubbed lollipop rock - thrifty ruminations on babies and kitties and punk rock fury, backed with a lo-fi and unpolished stew of punk riffs, electro bleeps, and happy keyboards, all mixed on top of robot beats and sloppy drums - was liberated. Being as prolific as they are strange the duo has issued six full length recordings, multiple singles/eps and fan-club only type songs since their inception. Their latest recording is the 25 track, remastered compilation, "Here Comes The Future... The Future Is Now!" This veritable "greatest hits" is a joint release with super-cool art boutique THE QUIET LIFE. ("Here Comes The Future... The Future Is Now!" cracked the top 20 on the "new add" college charts it's first week out (May 2), granting the poo poodles the distinction of being better than Jewel!) On stage performances by the group are rare and normally consist of P going it alone in a backing track aided, performance-art style soundsytem. But the live incarnation of the poo poodles plans to play several special shows in 06 in support of "Here Comes The Future... The Future Is Now!" The poo poodles have been compared to bands like LiLLiput, the Mountain Goats, and the Moldy Peaches.
